Five Fabulous Fashion Illustrators to Follow on Instagram

As you would guess, being a fashion illustrator myself I’m obsessed with fashion illustration.  I love seeing what other people are doing in the field and have been following fashion illustrators online for years. Last year I wrote a post on my favorite fashion illustration blogs. These days I skip the individual websites and head straight to Instagram for my daily visual feast. I’ve found a number of fashion illustrators to follow, some that are totally new to me. Here are a few I recommend.

David Downton

You might have seen the legendary David Downton’s fashion illustrations used in advertisements for Chanel, Dior, and Tiffany’s. Or maybe you opened up an issue of Vanity Fair and saw a spread of several of the famous women he painted? If not, you can see his gorgeous fashion art on his Instagram account.

Miss Magpie Fashion Spy

Miss Magpie Fashion Spy is the online persona of Niki Groom. I stumbled upon one of her whimsical drawings and have been following her ever since. Her style is sketchy, loose and fun. Get a daily dose of cute on Instagram at Miss Magpie Spy.

 Pontariver: Fashion Illustrators on Instagram

Pontariver is the Instagram account of Art Studio Yuko, which is the website of a fashion illustrator working in New York City. (Lots of fashion illustrators seem to take on new names and personas on the internet.) I don’t have a lot of information about her, but her illustrations are breathtakingly beautiful, free and elegant. Oh, the line quality! The colors! The movement!

Leo Greenfield

Leo Greenfield’s illustrations are inspired by street style and drawn from memory. His style is dreamy and artistic. I wish I could walk down the street looking like one of his creations. Experience them here.

Kerrie Hess

Kerrie Hess is as beautiful as her illustrations. She works in a large scale and can often be seen posing with her drawings on her Instagram feed. I want her chic all-white art studio, though it must be hard to keep clean.

More Fashion Illustrators on Instagram

I’ve swooned over the gorgeous art of Garance Dore and Katie Rodgers before, so I don’t think I need to go into how inspirational their work is again. You can find them both on Instagram at Garance Dore and Paper Fashion, respectively.

I am always looking for new fashion illustrators to follow , and when I find someone good I “repost” them to my Instagram followers. Follow me here for more of my favorites. Oh, and of course I post my own fashion illustrations as well.

Do you follow any wonderful fashion illustrators on Instagram? Please name them in the comments!

Heather, I always love your IG recommendations! I didn’t know of these five illustrators that you mentioned and will proceed to follow them now! I think I found Paper Fashion through you.

Here are some that I follow:

Kathryn Mallow @murderofgoths Flat AI style, she tends to do portraits of Plus-Size bloggers

    Peter Turner @peterturnerdraws

Grace Coddington @therealgracecoddington Yes, THAT Grace Coddington!

Richard Haines @richard_haines Long time NYC illustrator. Got my “live sketching” concept from him. He live sketches Runway shows all over the world. He was somehow involved with Perry Ellis (art director?) back in the olden days.
