Avastars: The Doll that Brings your Dreams to Life

The Princess and the Martial ArtistI’m excited to share the Grand Opening of the amazing project I’ve been working on called AvaStars, a revolutionary consumer experience that transforms dreamers of all ages into the star of their dreams and the hero of their stories. Over the last two years I have been working for the legendary Jill Barad  on a top secret project that combines revolutionary 3D printing technology with the fun of classic fashion dolls. The AvaStarShips have finally launched, and now I can talk about this fabulous experience and share the dolls I designed for the line.

Avastars Fashionista DollThe Fashionista, above, is one of my Avastar doll designs.  She’s wearing a purple tutu with a vinyl biker jacket and a cute fedora. Tres Chic! You might notice that she doesn’t really look like a regular fashion doll. That’s because the face on the doll is a miniature 3D color print of a real child’s face. Are you wondering how this could be? Keep reading!

The AvaStar Ship

 The AvaStarShip

Your journey begins at the AvaStarShip portal located in select shopping malls. First pick which doll or action figure you’d like to become. Would you like to be a princess or a firefighter? Cheerleader or Martial Arts Expert? (Browse all of the options here.) Choose your hair, eye and skin color. Then step inside and have your 3D photo taken. Once you’re done view the jumbo screen to see the premiere of your personalized AvaStars Video (Starring YOU!) Later you can download the app and watch your video as many times as you want. A couple weeks later your doll, that looks like you, arrives in the mail.

The Avastars

I designed several of the dolls in the line, including the PrincessPop Star and Cheerleader dolls, below.  It was a delight to design the fashions, which came out beautifully. They are collector quality with every detail carefully thought out and individually designed. The shoes and fashion accessories are unique to the doll. In addition each outfit is offered in four different hair colors and three different skin color options. That was just the doll design part. The technological aspects of bringing this concept to life was detailed and complex. I can’t take credit for any of the techy aspects of the toys, but being a member of the team that brought this visionary concept to life was an amazing experience.
