Last week I wrote about my favorite design and illustration blogs, but what about fashion illustration blogs? Yes, I also follow a number of fashion illustrators online. They give me ideas, fuel my creativity, and and give me hope for the future of fashion illustration. Here are my favorites!
A Few Fabulous Fashion Illustration Blogs
When I first discovered Garance Dore I was completely blown away by the clean lines and simplicity of her fashion illustrations. I hoped to see more but at the time she became enamored of photography and then video. I lost interest and stopped following her blog for a while. Recently she has returned to posting her artwork along with her delightful little articles on fashion, beauty and travel. She still posts photographs too, but there’s a new illustration almost every week, and they just keep getting better.
Katie Rodgers created the site Paper Fashion in 2009 as
…an outlet to share her fantastical watercolors with the world. It has since taken her on an incredible journey…
Indeed. She’s now working for some of the best names in fashion and just about everyone who likes fashion illustration must know about her blog. Her watercolors are gorgeous.
Spy Girl’s Quick Fashion Illustrations
Anne M Bray and I go way back. We first met in the early 1990’s at Mattel where we were coworkers designing for Barbie. We’ve been friends ever since. Anne Started Spy Girl as a journaling project. It’s now taken a life of it’s own. She recently added her quick fashion sketches to the mix of outfit posts and textile designs.
I found Manona Che through the Illustration Blog Google Plus Community. According to her “about” page she became interested in fashion only recently. Oh. I’ve been interested all my life and my sketches aren’t nearly this good. The illustration posts are interspersed with lots of outfit posts.
Things Bloggers Wear
I really dislike the name of the Tumblr Blog Shit Bloggers Wear, I just don’t find profanity all that charming, but I do love the simple black and white sketches of shoes, purses and other things that fashion bloggers like to wear.
Alex Tang is another fashion illustration blog that I found recently. It features the work of, well, Alex Tang! It looks like he starts with a hand drawn sketch and finishes it in Photoshop. However he works the illustrations are sexy and fabulous.
More Fashion Illustrations on Tumblr
Fashion Illustrations on Tumblr is an aggregate of fashion illustrations submitted by anyone with a drawing who has the time and interest to upload their work. Sheri Lee oversees the blog and allows everything from student’s hand painted fashion illustrations to very professional digital illustration. New work arrives constantly.
Those are my favorite fashion illustration blogs. I’m always on the lookout for new talent and new blogs to follow, so if you know of one or if I’ve missed your favorite add a link in the comments below and I’ll check it out.
